The Rocks Homestay B&B accommodation has three guest rooms:

  • Room 1 has twin-single beds and ensuite bathroom. It has a deck which opens out to the native rainforest, with views of the sea.

  • Room 2 has a Queen bed and ensuite facilities. It also has a private conservatory which opens out to the native bush. There is a sofa in the conservatory.

  • Room 3 has a queen size bed and ensuite facilities. Sliding doors open to a conservatory on the balcony with stunning views of the coast to the south and the cliffs behind the house.

All bedrooms are heated and air conditioned. Beds have electric blankets, and there are hairdryers available in all suites. TV sets are in all bedrooms. All opening windows have fly-screens. There is tea and coffee making equipment in each room, and a refrigerator with mini-bar, but no cooking facilities.   Dining out is available at the Punakaiki Tavern (bistro) and a hotel nearby (which has a selection of special diet menus)   Bookings are required at the hotel, but not necessary at the Tavern. Home cooked, set-menu in-house evening meals may be available on some evenings. (at least 48 hours prior discussion required - our nearest shopping is 50 km away!)   The Rocks Homestay accommodation has an extensive library of books about New Zealand plants and native fauna. There are also many books covering New Zealand history and particularly information about New Zealand's early West Coast goldfields. 

Guests have use of the upstairs conservatory, library, and decks at The Rocks Homestay B&B. There are fantastic views of the Tasman Sea and the West Coast coastline from the lounge and viewing deck. The dining area has windows to the ceiling which look out to the Paparoa National Park with its dense rainforest and high limestone cliffs. The glass-walled stairwell looks into the rainforest of tree ferns and other native trees.

A telephone and fax are available for guest use , as well as a computer (only for emails) .   Guests are welcome to use their own laptops, recognising that we have limited bandwidth and therefore restrictions on the amount of data transferred.

  • Guests may wish to take advantage of the laundry service while they are in residence at The Rocks. (Small fee) 

  • The Rocks Homestay B&B is not suitable for children under the age of 12 years and families may find the self-contained holiday homes listed on this page more suited to their needs.
